For work that genuinely needs hands in the room, we cover Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Livingston, Genesee and Washtenaw counties. The remote work has no geography — the systems we service are all over.
Why "near me" matters less than it used to
The reason people search for a home automation company near them is that the last one stopped coming. A service call means a truck, a half-day window and a slot between installations — so service quietly loses to new work, and the owner is left calling a number nobody answers.
Almost everything people actually need is software. An OS upgrade, a keypad that does the wrong thing, an app that stopped connecting, a device that will not add, a schedule written years ago by somebody who has left. None of that is carried in a van. It is programming, and programming travels.
What blocks the work is not distance. It is whether we can reach your system at all — and that is a question about your network, not your address.
When somebody does have to come out
A dead device has to be replaced
A failed dimmer, a keypad, a controller that will not power up. We can diagnose it remotely and tell you exactly which part it is — but somebody has to physically fit the new one.
Anything inside the lighting panel
Panel work is electrical work. We plan it and program around it, and we do not pretend it happens over the internet.
New wiring or new hardware
Adding a room, running cable, mounting equipment. This is the part of the trade that has always needed a person, and it still does.
Nothing can reach the system at all
If the controller is off the network entirely, somebody has to get it back on once. After that first step, the rest is remote.
If you're outside those counties and a job genuinely needs hands on site, we will say so and help you scope it for whoever does it. We would rather lose that job than sell you a remote fix for a physical problem.

Are you actually near me?+

Do you have to come to my house?+
Usually not. OS upgrades, programming changes, app reconnection, schedules and scenes are all software, and software does not need a truck. We tell you up front which category your job is in, before you spend anything.
Is remote service worse than having someone come out?+
For programming it is usually better, because there is no visit to schedule and nothing to bump. The work happens when it is ready rather than when a van is free. For a dead piece of hardware it is no substitute at all, and we say so.
What brands do you work on?+
Control4 and Lutron — HomeWorks and RadioRA. Those are the two systems this company has actually lived in, and we would rather say no than pretend expertise in something else.
My installer disappeared. Can you take over the system?+
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. You do not need your original dealer's permission, and for most work you do not need to change who your dealer of record is either.
How fast can you look at it?+
You can run the free checker right now and get an answer about your controller without talking to anyone. If you want work done, a quote is itemized and you see the price before anything runs.
Do you charge for a call-out to look at it?+
There is no charge for asking whether something is possible. Software work is charged only when it succeeds — if a remote upgrade does not complete, you are not billed for it.
I am outside Michigan. Can you still help?+
For remote work, yes — that is most of our customers. If your job turns out to need hands on site, we will tell you plainly and help you scope it for a local company rather than take the job and disappoint you.
