Anyone using Sonos voice control with their Lutron system yet

Where this came from: this question was asked on r/Lutron — not here. We answered it there, in public, and this is that answer.

Sonos shipped it on July 20, 2026, and it's a real Lutron-side integration, not Sonos handing the request to Alexa in the background. From Sonos's announcement: it works with Caseta, RA2 Select, RA3 and HomeWorks (not RadioRA 2 or Vive), English only, it needs a Lutron hub, and you switch it on in the Lutron app under Settings > Integrations > Sonos. Sonos says the Lutron commands run locally, so they keep working when the internet is down. That's the big difference from the Alexa/Google route, where voice dies with the WAN while every keypad, Pico and timeclock event carries on.

Setup catches from Lutron's support article: it's set up signed in as the homeowner (not in Pro Installer mode), it needs Sonos software 97.0 or later, and it works with one Lutron system at a time. On RA3/QSX, Lutron's App Note 798 has the same homeowner-only rule for the Sonos integration and wants the processor programmed with Designer 21.4 or later, so an older job may need a transfer first.

The thing that will still bite you is naming. If you have a Kitchen area in Lutron and a Kitchen room in Sonos, test "turn off the kitchen" before the client does. Rename for voice before handover, not after, because retraining a client out of a phrase they've already learned is worse than picking a clumsy name on day one.

My opinion: put voice on scenes first. Goodnight, all off, movie. Level control by voice sounds great in the demo and nobody uses it twice, because saying "dim the kitchen to forty percent" is slower than the Pico on the wall. If the client's real complaint is an Echo puck on every counter, using a speaker they already own is a genuine win.

If anyone has it running on QSX, I'd like to hear how the naming behaved.
