
Lutron Mechanical Motor Controller
Where this came from: this question was asked on r/Lutron — not here. We answered it there, in public, and this is that answer.
I haven't wired a Decoflex LV keypad's preset lines into an IGC-4N1 through Lutron contacts, so I'm not going to tell you it works. But you can settle it in twenty minutes before you buy a thing. Power the IGC, put the group somewhere it can move from, and momentarily jumper pin 3 to pin 8 with a bit of wire. If the shade drives to the preset and stops on its own, the input is a plain momentary dry contact and the rest is just wiring. If nothing happens, or it only moves while you're holding the jumper, then the input is maintained or it's expecting something other than a bare short, and Somfy tech support is the only place you'll get a straight answer. Do the same test on pins 1 and 2 while you're in there.
If that test passes, your scene problem disappears, which is the real reason to run it. You're right that RA3 doesn't give you delays or sequencing inside a scene, and I wouldn't fight that. Don't try to emulate a keypad tap pattern with timed pulses. One CCO output per preset, pulse mode, and the 50% wrap-up scene just closes one contact for half a second. No sequencing needed.
The thing I'd check before you commit is the pulse duration on the Lutron side. I'd want to confirm in the RA3 programming whether the pulse length on a contact closure output is adjustable or fixed, because if it's fixed at a second and the Somfy input turns out to be level-sensitive rather than edge-triggered, a one second hold could read as a hold-to-move instead of a preset recall. On an edge-triggered input it won't matter at all. Tell me which CCO you're using and I'll look at what the app actually exposes for it.
Keep the commons straight too. Lutron contact closure outputs are dry relay contacts, so landing several of them on Somfy's pin 8 is fine, but don't bond Somfy's common to anything on the Lutron low voltage side. Worth confirming on your specific CCO whether the outputs are individually isolated or share a pole, though in this case Somfy is bringing one common anyway so it works out either way.
One opinion, since you're in a conference room. If there's any third-party controller on that job, I'd drive the IGC over its own interface instead and use the RA3 keypad press only as the trigger. Dry contacts are one way and you get three fixed stops and no idea where the shade actually is. Over the IGC's own control interface you get arbitrary percentages and feedback. If RA3 is the only brain on site, then contacts are the right call and the jumper test is your answer.
